What are your thoughts on cheating in CoD and getting everything instantly unlocked? Back in the day, 2009/2010, I used to mod CoD4 and Xbox LIVE with a transfer cable. It was some of the most fun I had then, using UFO mode in public and private lobbies, modding my gamertag, and other things, that nowadays aren't possible or just aren't as fun anymore. I eventually quit once IW started cracking down on mods and patching them. Eventually everything got patched to the point that transfer cable and USB mods were very limited and you needed a console capable of running unsigned code, J-Tag Xbox 360 or Jailbroken PS3. But while all of these things were going on, I never modded my rank, stats, or weapons. Those kind of things were just fun to earn and gave me an incentive to play the game. When MW2 released, I was one of the first people to do the 10th prestige mod released by Game-Tuts. It was old school and very new, since it didn't unlock all weapons, camouflages, challenges, etc. It just promoted you to 10th prestige Level 1, I think, or it may have been Level 70, but nothing was unlocked. You had to do all that yourself. Later on though mods got more advanced and instant 10th prestige unlock all was very common. Once I was 10th prestige and got to flex my new emblem and everything, I realized that the game got very boring and I had no interest in progressing farther. I realized that the challenges were one of the biggest reasons why I kept playing the game. It was seriously fun and rewarding and I wasted it all just to cheat and show off to some of my friends. I even contemplated making a new account to start over again, which was common at this time with other people. My main point is, I think cheating and skipping over all the challenges in a game is bad for increasing skill, valuable experience, and ethics, of course.

Luckily, modding on PS4 and Xbox One is nonexistent so we don't have to deal with the mess that was CoD4 and MW2 in their hay day. Everyone now has to play legit and earn their rank. But there is still a ton of modding online in the old CoDs on Xbox 360 and PS3. If anybody routinely plays CoDs on those consoles, you will see quite a few cheaters. With all this said, what do you personally think of cheating and progressing through all the challenges and prestiges with a simple modded lobby or recovery service?

If you strive to get everything unlocked by cheating just to brag about it, I'd say that would be a dick move.

But if you're doing it because it's an old game, you want to have fun while not having to level up to get the stuff you want to play with, and not modding/gaining an unfair advantage with cheats I'd say it's fine.

I can understand that if it's an old game you've already mastered, like CoD4 or WaW for example, but modding games that you have no experience with kinda gets to me. But oh well, people do what they want, but I find the most fun out of leveling up by completing challenges and gaining invaluable experience.

Exactly. There's absolutely no reason to go out and buy a video game that's usually $60+ just to get on and cheat. Unfortunately that's exactly what a lot of people do.

I tried playing MW3 ground-war today and it was terrible because of godmode users.
